Kansas Radon Program – Training Schedule 2012

Courses offered by Kansas State University serve the requirements of the Kansas Radon Certification Act and
KDHE, the NE Radon licensing program, and the NEHA-NRPP. We are launched our online radon measurement and mitigation training in mid-April and do not anticipate classroom courses until October. Monitor this web page for those opportunities.

Online Courses

In partnership with the national consortium of Regional Radon Training Centers, Kansas State University began offering online Radon Training Courses this April.

All courses meet Kansas Certification requirements. The online Radon Measurement Training Course qualifies as an initial radon measurement technician certification course for Kansas certification.  The online Radon Mitigation Course will qualify as an initial radon mitigation technician certification course as long as the required “hands-on” or “field” portion of the mitigation training is also accomplished and the “Mentor Checklist for Field-Based Radon Mitigation Training” is submitted along with certification application.

The courses all qualify as initial courses for NEHA certification. The mitigation stand-alone course is designed for those who have already taken a measurement course and will not satisfy NEHA requirements for the Mitigation Certification Exam without taking an additional measurement training course. Online courses offered include the following:

Measurement Course Online

  • Self-paced: April 16-May 15 or July 2 – August 1 (start anytime April 16/July 2 or after, finish by May 15/August 1)
  • Pre-requisite for NEHA/NRPP Professional Certification Exam; fulfills requirement for entry level course in measurement. NEHA/NRPP Certification Exam must be scheduled separately.

Mitigation Course Online

  • Self-paced: April 30 – June 13 or  August 2 – September 16 (start anytime April 30/August 2 or after, finish by June 13/September 16,)
  • Pre-requisite for NEHA/NRPP Professional Certification Exam; fulfills requirement for entry level course in mitigation. For completion, must also register for and complete daylong, hands-on field session; multiple dates/locations TBA. For NEHA Mitigation Certification, you must have already completed a Radon Measurement Course; this course does NOT meet measurement education requirements for NEHA/NRPP mitigation certification exam. NEHA/NRPP Certification Exam must be scheduled separately.

Combined Course Online

  • Self-paced: April 30 – July 14 or July 2 – September 16 (start anytime April 30/July 2 or after, finish by July 14/September 16)

For completion, must also register for and complete daylong, hands-on field session; multiple dates/locations TBA. NEHA/NRPP Certification Exam must be scheduled separately.
