Kansas Radon Testing Resources from MCA
Thank you for your interest in receiving a no cost radon test kit through this CDC-funded partnership.
The KS Radon Project provides no-cost radon testing kits to Kansans. The project is a partnership between the Masonic Cancer Alliance, the outreach network for the University of Kansas Cancer Center, the Kansas Radon Program, and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, with funding provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
What is Radon?
Radon is a radioactive gas that occurs naturally in soil. Outdoors, radon levels are low because they are diluted. However, in our homes radon levels can build up and increase our risk for developing lung cancer.
Radon enters our homes from the soil through cracks in concrete floors and walls, floor drains, sump pits, etc. If the concentration of radon increases, your family may be at risk.
If you knew there was one simple way to reduce the risk of lung cancer caused by radon for your whole family, you’d do it, right?
Well, there is. Order a simple-to-use test kit and test your home today.
Here is the plan:
1. Request a no cost test kit by clicking on or scanning the QR code below

2. Receive the kit.
Once you request a kit, one will be mailed to you within 7-10 business days.
3. Register the kit.
When you receive your kit, register it with Alpha Energy Labs/Eurofins, the laboratory that will analyze your kit. The information on the postcard below can help you remember where to go to register the kit serial number and how to send the kit back to them for analysis.

4. Look out for reminders.
We will use texts to help make this plan successful — we’ll send you reminders to register and complete your kit and to help follow up after the test is complete.
5. Test your home.
A copy of the instructions for testing your home with the Alpha Energy Labs/Eurofins test kit can be found here.
6. Get results.
It is typically about 7 days from when you sent your completed kit back to when you receive the results by email. The email will contain brief information about how to interpret your results, but you can always call the Kansas Radon Program (800-693-5343) for help understanding your results.
A helpful guide for interpreting results is available here: https://sosradon.org/results
FYI
As a part of our partnership, information will be shared between the Kansas Radon Program and the Masonic Cancer Alliance regarding the results of your test so that we can follow up with you to provide support and information as needed.
